Tuttie’s Place Christmas 2011
Dear Colleagues, Family, Friends, and Supporters of TuTTie’s Place:
The Holiday Season has approached us once again, and we find ourselves ill-prepared to meet the expectations of our youth for this Christmas. They, like most kids, expect to wake up on Christmas morning with gift boxes filled with clothing, electronics and gift cards. However, with Christmas morning just weeks away, we can not fulfill their dreams.
As you know, our program is state-funded and the State does not budget for birthdays, holidays, graduations and/or any special occasion, so for these special times we come to you. We recognize that our coming to you, today, makes the asking so much more difficult. It causes you to have to choose between the many, many “askings” you’ve received during the past several years because of the state of our economy.
Just take a moment to imagine what not receiving a gift would mean to a kid who has been shuffled around from home to home and repeatedly disappointed by family and caregivers every holiday. For many youth in out-of-home placements, their only Christmas wish is a secure, permanent place to call home. And, we work awfully hard to provide that.
We tried to raise money by attempting to host a fundraiser this past October, and we were forced to cancel it due to lack of ticket sales. We knew then that our efforts to provide a memorable holiday for our youth would become an even greater challenge this year. As of this writing, we have twenty-two young men. All they really want are hoodie jackets in sizes XL to XXXL and anything with sports team logos, especially Ravens’ gear. We have an Xbox and Kinect system in each home, and we could use the latest sports games. Hand-held electronic games, iPods, PG-rated DVDs, board games, basketballs and footballs are all great group gifts.
We need help!
To help us and make life easy on yourself, please purchase a gift card from Wal Mart, Target, Dicks, Sports Authority or Best Buy. Of course, cash is always welcomed, or you can donate right now, with a secure online donation through PayPal. You may also, either send or drop off donations to us at 7133 Rutherford Rd., Suite 106, Windsor Mill, MD 21244. We would honor the opportunity to give you the children’s personal wish list if you so desire. Just give us a call.
Imagine all the children who will be affected by your gifts of generosity. Help us build a world where we all see each other as one.
With Open Hands,
Brenda Boyd
Executive Director
